Rozemerie Cuevas of Vancouver, one of Canada’s best-known clothing designers, will show her Jacqueline Conoir Collection at the Brass Ring Luncheon, the annual benefit that The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation at Denver does for the Barbara Davis Center.
“I was doing a show in Phoenix and met someone who told us about this event,” Cuevas told us at a cocktail party that Sharon Whiton Gelt organized at Walker Fine Art for principals of the Nov. 10 fundraiser. “Right away, we thought it would be a good thing for us to become involved with.”
Cuevas brought selections from her collection to show at the kickoff. She described the pieces as “trendy, but classic and elegant. Our designs are for the confident, urban woman who wants to be noticed in a crowd.”
Brass Ring chairwoman Diana Docktor said the collection is named for Cuevas’ mother and was inspired by the designer’s travels. “The fabrics are beautiful, the designs are flattering and the prices are very good,” Docktor added.
About 100 people attended the kickoff that also featured refreshments — everything from Caesar salad “martinis” to creme brulee shooters — provided by the Marriott City Center, where the show will be held.
Guests included the Barbara Davis Center’s director, Dr. George Eisenbarth; Jill Behr; Trisha Hood; Deb Smith; Keri Christiansen; Wendy Aiello; Roselyn Saunders; Gail and George Johnson; Tangy and Brad Buchanan; Marsha and Emmett Duemke; Louise and Scott Richardson; Sharon Cooper; Dianne Bartlett; Gretchen Pope; Adrienne and Jack Fitzgibbons; and Susie Hummell, who is taking reservations at 303-628-5109.
